Reimagining Versailles: the creative vision
The Science Museum needed a bold creative concept for Versailles: Science and Splendour - their latest major exhibition revealing the powerful role of science and discovery at the Palace of Versailles, told through spectacular scientific objects and artworks.
See how we developed a captivating creative route to refract the opulent history of Versailles through a modern lens.
Designing a portal of imagination
Our “Splendid Dreams” concept brought gravity to the grandeur as the exhibition’s key visual. Echoing the exhibition’s exploration of 17th-century Versailles, our creative route blended the opulence of Versailles and the surreal. We intertwined scientific discoveries with fantastical visions, transforming the palace into a portal of imagination.
Luxurious classical elements complimented a modern style for wide appeal. Combining scientific objects with elements of iconic paintings and design from within the palace itself, we reflected a space where innovation meets imagination. We also took inspiration from Versailles’ iconic archways for a modern, geometric twist on the palace’s extravagant architecture.
Our design became the exhibition’s poster artwork used across a number promotional materials. We also produced a dynamic animation for roll-out across digital platforms.
A splendid digital and OOH campaign
Our artwork educated and inspired visitors by showcasing the intersection of art and science that defines the Palace of Versailles. It became the gravitational centre of the exhibition and the Science Museum’s marketing campaign, both for digital and posters OOH around London and within the museum itself.
Critics gave the exhibition golden reviews. It was a très magnifique launch for the Science Museum!
